Mamta Bharti

Mamta Bharti

Mamta Bharti – When twelve-year-old Mamta came to BSS in 2004 from the local government school, she did not know how to read or write even in Hindi. This is difficult to believe from a girl who is so bright and eager! Today Mamta can read and write in not just Hindi, but also English, and excels in her studies.

Mamta has 2 brothers and 1 sister, and her older brother Brijesh is studying in class 6. At home, she helps her parents by cooking, looking after her siblings, and cleaning up in the kitchen. Her father works as a construction-site laborer while her mother works at making beaded mala necklaces that will be sold by merchants outside the religious sites of Sarnath.

Teaching Children How to Dream

(English and Hindi with English subtitles)

About BSS from Alfredo and Anel

(Spanish with English subtitles)

A letter to his children

"These are the things I want for you - to grow up in a world with no limits on your dreams and no achievements beyond your reach, and to grow into compassionate, committed women who will help build that world. And I want every child to have the same chances to learn and dream and grow and thrive that you girls have. That's why I've taken our family on this great adventure."

Barack Obama ~ USA President
